A selection of my readings

I lend my voice to people from past centuries, and people of today – especially from Japan.

In November 2022, I brought a bit of Samurai spirit by reading on a private stage for artists in Cologne.

During a lecture on the Japanese writer Natsume Soseki in October 2017 in Cologne’s Japanese Cultural Institute, I read some passages of his masterpiece novel “Kokoro” (German translation).

The first novel of world literature, “The Tale of Genji”, written 1000 years ago by the imperial court lady Murasaki Shikibu, was presented at Cologne’s Japanese Cultural Institute in October 2015.
I had the honour to read several passages of the novel (German translation).

Music from “The Tale of Genji” was performed by the Cologne Gagaku Ensemble at the Japanese Cultural Institute in November 2020. Slipping into the role of the author, Murasaki Shikibu,
I read selected passages of the novel fitting with the concert.
(Gagaku is classical Japanese music performed at the imperial court since the 7th century.)

On the “Reading Day” at the Japanese International School in Düsseldorf,
I read to children in German and Japanese.
(I did this for the first time in October 2022, when hygiene measures due to COVID were still very strict at school, so wearing a mask was mandatory.)
